Trade the polished mall for a bowl of sesame noodles

Weixiangzhai (味香斋) is the counterpoint to HAI550: small, crowded, direct and built around flavors that have kept people returning for decades. It is now a small Shanghai noodle-shop chain with several branches, not a single restaurant. For this story the branch matters: public route reports placed Holland and Zendaya at the Nanjing East Road branch, at 151 Hubei Road opposite Shanghai Book City—not the better-known Yandang Road address that appears in some guides. Weixiangzhai was also reportedly a repeat visit during the trip, though that detail is not independently confirmed.

The Michelin Guide’s separate Yandang Road listing is useful for understanding the brand’s signature combination: sesame-dressed noodles, spicy chopped pork and clear beef soup. It should not be used as proof of the celebrity branch. At Hubei Road, keep the day simple: order, eat and move on. English service should not be assumed, so save the Chinese name and address on your phone.

Tea, old-city texture—and Shanghai weather winning the argument

Yuyuan is where the route becomes visually maximal: tiled roofs, dense shopfronts, visitors moving through narrow passages and plenty of reasons to stop for a cold drink. Local media reported Holland and Zendaya trying fruit tea, browsing qipao and shopping in the area.

One stop in the public route roundups was BalaThÉ, a contemporary tea brand whose presentation mixes Chinese tea references with photogenic fruit drinks. Treat the exact drink as optional. The better reason to come is the shift in urban texture from Huaihai Road’s fashion buildings to the old-city commercial lanes.

On 23 July, temperatures in Shanghai reached about 36°C. Semir store staff told Sina that Holland went into the Yuyuan-area shop, bought shorts and changed into them there; later reports identified them as washed-black denim. Public coverage linked the practical purchase to the heat, and the bright green shopping bag went viral almost immediately.

China Daily reported a list price of RMB 239 and a promotional price of RMB 159 for the Summer 2026 shorts. Prices and availability are time-sensitive, so this article is not a promise that the same item remains in stock. The more durable travel lesson is simpler: Shanghai in summer is humid, shade is not guaranteed and a clever itinerary leaves room to adapt.

West Bund after the pop-up

Holland and Zendaya’s publicly reported Shanghai route also took them to the Spider-Man “Mystery Trail” pop-up at Gate M West Bund Dream Center. The published run was 17 July–16 August 2026. We found no official extension as of 18 August, so visitors should not travel there expecting to recreate the temporary installation.

Gate M transformed a century-old cement-factory site into a cultural and commercial riverfront destination, with preserved industrial structures, cafés and an 800-meter stretch beside the Huangpu River.

Gate M regularly hosts changing short-run brand pop-ups, markets, outdoor screenings and performances. The programme can change faster than the riverfront itself, so check current listings before making a trip for a particular event.

This transfer takes you southwest across the city. If you also have a fixed dinner reservation, leave a generous buffer; sunset, traffic and an enjoyable waterfront walk do not follow a precise celebrity itinerary.

The publicly reported dinner stop: Fu He Hui

Shanghai district media and public route reports placed Holland and Zendaya at Fu He Hui (福和慧), the vegetable-centred tasting-menu restaurant at 1037 Yuyuan Road. We include it because it forms part of the publicly reported Shanghai story—not as a trisAino recommendation that will suit every traveler. We found no first-party confirmation from the restaurant, the actors or the film team.

Fu He Hui is ranked No. 11 on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2026 and serves seasonal set menus in a quiet, private-room setting. Its format, price point and reservation requirements make it a different decision from the daytime stops.

Confirm the current menu, dietary arrangements, cancellation policy and reservation time directly with the restaurant before building the evening around it. Skipping Fu He Hui does not make the route incomplete; dinner should suit your budget, appetite and final neighborhood.
